About

SHAVION (pronounced SHA-VON) is a former journalist, turned singer-songwriter based in Durham Region, Ontario, who is proving it's never too late to pursue your dreams.

Born and raised in the west end of Toronto to Trinidadian and Grenadian parents, SHAVION  grew up surrounded by a wide variety of music that included everything from Janet, Aaliyah, Drake, J Cole, TLC and Toni Braxton to Caribbean artists Machel Montano, Destra and Sanchez. Her love for music led to her joining several talent shows in singing or dancing groups and taking a handful of music courses over the years, including piano and violin. However, due to feeling too shy to sing solo publicly and having no knowledge of the music industry and being neurodivergent, SHAVION took a different career path, applying her writing skills to journalism and, eventually, the music business. It wasn’t until COVID hit and the world “stopped” that she found herself and the courage to push past her mental obstacles and pursue her dream of becoming an artist. Since then, SHAVION has released her first single "The One (Can You Slide)" on all streaming platforms.

SHAVION’s sound is true to her eclectic nature and pulls from her widespread taste in music, infusing R&B with Caribbean flavour and hip-hop. A storyteller at heart, MURISSA uses her songwriting to get vulnerable with listeners, painting vivid pictures of her experiences in life, struggles with love and mental health, and lessons learned along the way.
